Totem

Of course I don’t...

...believe in such a thing as a totem animal in the supernatural sense that is...

 

 

Because believing is always the easier than knowing

When I met this guy in the picture,
I knew, at that very instant, that my totem animal was a sloth.
It just popped inside my head, inside my body, inside me.
I knew then why people believe such things: Moving so slowly that fungus grows on your fur, chewing on hallucinogenic vines all day, intestines that turn upside down, swimming in a river full of crocodiles... that’s me!

Did I mention I was diagnosed with ADD earlier this year?

Funky mapping

Ok, snow is gone but I still miss the 30+ temps and the ocean...

A nice flashback occurred when I stitched and mapped this sequence of images:

Gucci Dog

Ha came across this photo in my Flickr stream...

At the time I shot and named this picture (gucci dog, because of the necklace),
I had no Idea that this little guy's real name actually is (Señor) Gucci and that he is a famous model and has a job in pet store.

We are friends now... well most of the time :)

Droste effect in music video

The Droste/Escher effect is a technique with which you can make some amazing pictures.
I learned how to use it from a tutorial by Josh Sommers on Flickr, check out his amazing work.
The code used to generate these images is based on the maths these guys from Leiden produced to complete a litograph by Escher who apparently could not figure out how to complete it himself.

Browsing through Josh's Flickr gallery (which I can recommend) I came across this link to a music video using the effect as an animation... Amazing!

The Shape of Imagination

Ok, so I stopped my pro account on Flickr some time ago, because...
well we didn't get along anymore :)

But people still visit my stream and sometimes find what they need. Some time ago my photo of the walk of fame was chosen to appear in the Schmaps city guide to LA. This time a radio station from Salt Lake City, Utah used my Love & Mathematics image from my Poetry & Photography set.

Jay... fame... sort of

 

Here's the poem that goes along with the picture:

Love & Mathematics

Some speak of a spark
Which ignites in the dark
When two people solve
The equation of love

But as the lights went on
Cover of darkness gone
I saw your true face
Reflected in my gaze

Fuzzy logic was applied
Our body language lied
Do I mind that nose?
Do you hate my clothes?

The laws of attraction
Do not care for perfection
As I entered your space
I thanked god the beer is so cheap in this place
